So I Finnaly made up my mind and choose Boston college over American university. I have never visited BC and I only know about the college through college board and virtual tours online. I really want to visit BC but I can't because my parents can't afford it on top of the 500$ enrollment fee. My question is if it is safe to attend a college you havnt visited? Is it really mandatory to visit it? I really did my research but my teachers are still pushing me to actually visit the college.

I’m sure your teachers mean well, but they should butt out.

If your family can’t afford a visit, then your family can’t afford a visit. It’s presumptuous of your teachers (or anybody else) to tell your parents how to spend or conserve their own money.

People do sometimes attend colleges they have not previously visited. I did. I have friends who did. Usually it’s a case similar to yours: a student who ends up attending a selective college some significant distance from home.

I certainly don’t think it’s ideal to enroll at a college you’ve never visited–my daughter visited the colleges she was serious about more than once–but it’s not a catastrophic mistake either. You seem to have done your homework.

Congratulations on your selection. Have a great time at BC!

Thank you, I will still attempt to visit the campus so that I won’t be surprised on my first day of college but ill try to save money and take a bolt or greyhound.

It may be late in the game to try this, but I would call the admissions office at BC and tell them that you are leaning toward attending but can’t visit due to financial constraints. Ask if they have any programs that pay for accepted students to visit. You may get a pleasant surprise. I think it’s worth asking. Many schools offer this for URMs and low income families. Don’t know if this applies to you.
Anyway, good luck!

Wow good idea I will surely try this.
