<p>My D visited Reed twice and ultimately crossed it off her list because the students didn’t seem “happy”. She thought the academics were great but she just couldn’t see herself there for 4 years. I feel guilty posting this because I’m sure there are many happy students at Reed, and this is only one kid’s perception. In fact, the son of a family friend is there and he can’t say enough good things about it.</p>
<p>We didn’t get a chance to visit Rice because Houston is simply not on our beaten path - I’ve only been there to change planes - but everything we heard about it was quite positive. It kept rising higher and higher on my D’s list and I was looking forward to visiting. My D. liked the residential college system and the strong science and music programs. She had an excellent interview with an alum and I think that overall it probably would have been a good fit. </p>
<p>Sadly, a student can only attend one school at a time and my D. was accepted early decision to an east coast school and now we have no need to visit. Oh well, maybe my younger child will want to see Rice!</p>
