visiting this friday

Hello
taking my son to the open house this friday
is there antyhing we should check out that will not be on the tour
where should we eat while on campus
any cute coffee houses

thanks

Food - Gilbert’s in the basement of Kirby House is cute on campus. Otherwise probably the food court on the main floor in the Farinon Student Center.

If your son is an athlete you may want to take a ride out to Metzgar Fields where the outdoor sports (other than football) play. Indoor sports are in the Kirby Fieldhouse on campus.

The student gym is really nice and was not included on our campus tour. My son is a freshman this year and loves it!

thanks
yes, my son is an athlete and actually has a meeting set up with the swim coach
checking out the sports facilities will be second after the science dept
how does your son find the social scene especially on the weekend
do most people go home, not looking for a “suit case school”

thanks

My son has made a lot of friends on campus - he’s in a freshman dorm and also joined a sports club which has kept him very busy on weekends. I don’t think many kids leave on weekends, we’re from California so he definitely never does. The only weekend that really cleared out was fall break.

S is a senior, he says most weekends most kids stay on campus. He’s never been bored, not in his first year and a half when he had no interest in joining a frat, and not since 2nd semester soph year when he changed his mind and pledged.

great, thanks
should be perfect time to see the campus
he is interested in going to med school after graduation
seems like the school is asking the potential students to sit in on a class
any good ,interesting professors he should try and sit in on
thanks

How was your visit ? Please report back on your experience and impressions if you can share. In September, we visited and liked it but have not taken the tour yet.

hello
the visit went well.the admission staff were all very nice and helpful.they handed out class schedules so the future students could sit in on any class/classes that fit their timetable. my son sat in on a bio class, and met with the swim coach who he liked very much. we ate lunch in the main dining hall, there were many options to choose from
the school definately is academics first and all other activities are second
this was nice to hear coming from a D1 athletic coach
overall,my son enjoyed the day and has it on his short list of possible schools
if u have any specific questions just ask
