Hi guys, I just got admitted and I'm down to 2 choices. I would love to know what you guys know about the various opportunities for viterbi students. From the USC site, I really didn't find much specific statistics or info on the internships or CO OP program, and I would love to hear from some people who have had experience in the process.

Congrats on your admission!

I know that most of my friends have had a relatively easy time getting internships and co-ops. I’m a current senior studying Biomedical Engineering, and I’ve had a great experience with the Viterbi and USC Career Centers, as well as the Trojan Family alumni network and events put on by professional student organizations.

I don’t know if you saw the Viterbi Career site itself, but here’s a link: [USC - Viterbi School of Engineering - Students](http://viterbi.usc.edu/students/undergrad/careers/students/)

You’ll notice several resources including alumni mentorship, career conferences, career expos, and the viterbi industry networking night. The career expos are the flagships, and over 100 companies come every semester to recruit Viterbi students for jobs, co-ops, and internships. Viterbi Industry Networking Event usually happens that same week and lets you network even more. The career conference and the rest of the support the career center provides is great for practicing your interview skills or perfecting your resume.

I started attending these events freshman year just to practice and meet recruiters, then by Junior year when I decided to pursue an internship (though many of my friends got them earlier), I got multiple offers to choose between. This year I had more offers to choose between (I’m doing the progressive degree program, so I’m coming back to finish my Master’s next year and have one more internship before full time). I am extremely lucky to say that I’m honestly not stressed about being able to get a full time job after graduation because of how much of a network Viterbi has helped me build. At the end of the day, that’s an amazing feeling to have.

I haven’t even mentioned the student orgs which bring in companies for even more personal networking, and of course there’s the general USC Career center which holds countless events of its own that Engineers can and should attend.

You should also check out ViterbiVoices, where my friends and I have blogged about a lot of topics including internships. Here are just a few to get you started:

ViterbiStudent: I echo ixobiles comments. I am faced with many of the same options and choices, and I also appreciate your valuable and respectful responses.

Really happy I could help! I know decision time is tough so I’m happy to share any experience that can help out.
