I’ve taken the ACT and scored a 32 composite, but have a 30 in math. I was thinking about taking the january math sat subject test to see if I could offset that low score. Do you think this would help? Also, would a 33 subscore in the science section help? I applying as a computer science/business administration major.
Have you taken a full year of calculus yet? If so, how did you do in it and did you take the AP test? If not, are you in calculus now and how are you doing in it?
I have taken two years of calculus, but I am a domestic applicant studying in India so we do not have AP tests. I did score an 85 on my midterm which would be considered an A where I study.
Viterbi likes to see calculus, so if you got an A in that, it will certainly help your chances. A 30 on ACT math is 95th percentile, right? That’s not the end of world, but you will definitely be up against 99th percentiles. So, it will then be more about the rest of your application. (grades in computer science classes, recommendations, essays, etc.)
Taking the Math 2 subject test is worth a shot if you think you can do well on it. I wouldn’t have the score automatically sent to USC, though. I’d wait to see what it is first.
ok that gives me some hope. Thank you! @HopingForUSC
