Viterbi PDP (BS/MS) 144 Crediit Threshold for Scholarships and AP Credit

Lets say you can come up with a PDP plan to graduate in 4 years getting both a BS and MS in this time.
But by the beginning Spring your Senior year you find yourself with 144 credits or more.
You have a Scholarship which you thought could cover you for the 4 years.
Due to the 144 credit limit are you deemed a graduate student and lose your scholarship in your last semester?
The reason you find yourself in this predicament is that you got lots of AP Credit when you came in, and some of this credit really was not used for anything at all. Some of it was used to waive classes, but less than half of it. Lots of useless AP Credit.
Also because you did not foresee this and took some classes like pottery, and ballroom dancing along the way

I did find the following blurb :
“If a transfer student’s course work is not accepted for credit toward the degree, he or she may appeal to request that those units not count toward the 144 units.”

But it applies to transfer students, I wonder if it also applies to useless AP Credit.

@ViterbiTrojan and @psydent, I saw you guys discussing this in some old threads but with no resolution, would you have any insight?
Thanks for anyone’s answers.
Regards

Also who do you appeal to?

To be honest, I don’t have much info on this topic. I think the student should talk to their counselor ASAP and financial aid too.
