Hoping some of you have some insight on Vocal Performance degrees at Florida schools. I work with students predominately interested in BFA Musical Theater but have someone who is only interested in classical voice and is only looking at schools, public and private, in Florida. I know of all the schools that offer BM Vocal Performance but don’t really have insight on the quality of these programs.
I would be particularly interested in any information on Stetson or Jacksonville University. Has anyone heard of anything from UTampa or Florida Southern’s music departments, their MT programs are very well respected but I know nothing about their vocal performance degrees? Or anything about the music program at UNF or USF, those are not schools that offer BFA MT’s so I am really at a loss at any information there. I know UF, UM (Frost), UCF and FSU have good programs but I think there are probably more options out there. She is not interested in the tri-county area (FAU, FIU, FGCU or Palm Beach) except for UMiami.
Any information would be appreciated!
Hi my son is a VP BM at FSU, and he almost went to Frost. I think those are just about the only FL schools you did not seek info about, but if you have questions about those two schools feel free to PM me. Don’t know much about the other FL schools except my son competed against a number of FAU and Stetson vocalists in NATS regionals last year and they were very well trained.
