Anyone know of any voice teachers in the San Francisco Bay Area that have experience with musical theatre style and teach belting.
And since I’m here anyone know of any good dance studios in this area too, I’m starting a gap year for auditions and need to work on my technique
@sean121, There’s a panel “Know Your Options for College Majors in Music and Performance May 31, 2016 from 7 - 9, Campolindo High School, Orinda,” and there is more information on Betty Schneider’s website; she is one local voice teacher specializing in musical theatre style. Also, you’ve probably seen the thread under “Summer University in San Francisco” organized by Susan Woodell-Mascal and that could be another good place to start.
What part of the Bay Area are you in?
East bay-Oakland, Berkely, SF, SAN Leandro, Hayward
I recommend The Ballet School in Walnut Creek. They have drop-in classes for teen/adults in ballet, tap, broadway dance, etc. They also have a close association with the Lesher Center for the Arts and would probably have recommendations for someone for voice. Other than that, I would recommend JS Vocal Studio in Pleasanton for vocal technique.
Sean, if you don’t have luck with voice teachers in the Bay Area, there are a lot of NYC voice teachers that will give lessons over Skype. It’s not ideal, because it’s helpful if VT can see your body when you are singing, but my kid did this for several years, and does it now if out of town for work.
