One more plug – and there is still time to apply – for MSM’s Summer Voice Festival. Absolutely GREAT program, especially for curren undergrads!

What about rising high school seniors? Or is this too advanced a program?

(Won’t work for my DD, however someone else may be interested in the answer…)

There were a few rising seniors at last year’s Institute, in fact my D roomed with one headed for NEC, but there were also a number of post-graduate (including international students) in attendance as well. As you can see, there becomes quite an age range = experience range. Last year they auditioned on the first day so all of the movement and acting classes were divided based on those results. Typcially (but not exclusively) the older students were placed in advanced classes while the younger students were placed in the beginning classes. There were masterclasses open to everyone, as were most of the electives, although there were a few that were restricted to students in the advanced group, and even then there were some by “invite only” (applying to YAPs and grad school for instance).

For my daughter the timing (summer before her Senior year in college) was perfect, but everyone is different. I’ve said before that it was the best money I’ve ever spent on one of my daughter’s summer programs and would encourage people to check it out for themselves.

If she is looking for help with college auditions. Indiana with Jacobs School of Music has a week long audition prep for various instruments with there very famous faculty. You get inside information for there auditions and other competitive auditions. Also, you make really great connections with the faculty. I had great lessons with the professeur and she offered to waive my pre-audition cd. Which is a feat in itself.
