Volunteer Hours v. Part-Time Job which looks better?

So I was wondering what colleges in particular Virginia Tech, likes to see, volunteer work or or part-time job. I can't really do both just due to a lack a time. My family is not in a place where it is needed that I work, so if that means anything. And in general how many EC's are school really looking for. I only am part of one club and that's my schools GSA, though I am vice-president so I was wondering if a leadership position in one or two clubs would out-weight just being part of 5 or 6 clubs. Also, is there any "type" volunteer work colleges look for? I am looking into being a youth basketball coach for girls. And another question, my freshman year of HS I played basketball on the varsity team though the school was small and the league wasn't the sort that scouts would come out to. After y freshman year I switched schools and didn't play at my new school, with that given information should I include that I played basketball (I still do just not with an official team) or would that school find it irrelevant since it was some time ago? I am currently a Jr., thanks for any advice :)

I should add that I have had a part-time job my senior though it was only a holiday job. Also, I am a very dedicated drummer and do play in a band. Also one last question (sorry for all the questions) I currently take a russian class every saturday use due to in the language and me being adopted from the country. I did a summer program and the Saturday classes are a continuation of the summer program. Do these classes count as EC’s? Thanks again
