Do you think med school will frown upon this or see this as an act of desperation ?

because there's this 2 different hospitals with completely different programs that I'm interested in and I'm thinkin of doing both, but I don't want med school to think that I'm desperate for clinical experience or padding the application

I don't get the question.

1) what's different about each program? I'm not able to imagine a whole lot variety to volunteering at a hospital.

2) how would taking on multiple volunteer opportunities look desperate? unless you have current, active applications out there and are going to be interviewing in the next few weeks and you have no prior volunteer experience, I just can't possibly figure out a situation in which a medical admissions committee is going to be sitting around looking at your application and someone saying "Gee, I'd really like to support this candidate, but he's just got that volunteer work at two hospitals...that sounds fishy to me. I really hate when these applicants overachieve."

Seriously, I know you're pre-med, but you've got to be less anal about this stuff.
