I have been selected to VT for CMDA and to UCR for computer engineering but I can’t choose. I live in CA so UCR would be cheaper, at the same time money isn’t that big of a deal though it has some importance. At VT I have a two year guaranteed housing contract and will be a part of the HONORS RESIDENTIAL COMMONS Living learning community. At VT I will be a part of the college of science and at UCR I will be a part of the college of engineering. I just want to determine which is the better option. I was on the waitlist for UCR that’s why this is late. Any advice is Appreciated. Thanks for your time.
I’m pro VT since my oldest is a rising senior and my youngest is a rising freshman. We live in state and enjoy the in state tuition rates. You should go to the school that is offering the major you want. Personally I think I’d stay in CA and enjoy the weather and an engineering degree. I have three kids and they all would be miserable on the opposite coast; they like to come home on breaks. The honors housing at VT is nice and contrary to what they make you think you are guaranteed a room sophomore year but you are not required to live in the dorm second year. My son is a member of the honors college and mostly enjoys getting first pick on classes. Good luck in whatever you decide.
What do you want to study? Two different colleges. Keep in mind if you want engineering it’s better to get into it directly as usually the requirement to enter from another program is either high or not allowed
