For those of you saying that it was dumb of me to use the link, despite that “disclaimer”, I’d like to thank you for your concern, but I’m relatively sure that it’s not as dangerous as it’s made out to be. It seems to be mostly the spawn of “oh my god will I get in and will this make me rejected” paranoia.

The line “Activity on this web site is logged. This site is only for students who have received an admission letter”, in my opinion, doesn’t mean that only people who have an admission letter are allowed to use it. I’m pretty sure that it’s trying to tell people confused by why they can’t login through this page that they’re actually supposed to check their admission status through the main site instead, and that the page is actually for accepted students. Thus, it is followed by the lines “To check your status, visit [USC Undergraduate Admission](http://www.usc.edu/admission/undergraduate) and click “Application Status Check”.” Essentially, the entire disclaimer is for those confused as to why this login link may not work for them.

In short, I’m pretty sure that a school such as USC wouldn’t involve a system where students could meet repercussions for using a backdoor URL to check whether they’ve accepted or not, as they probably understand the anxiety of their applicants. Otherwise, they would most definitely change the system so you could not even enroll through a backdoor URL, and would have to wait for your actual application page to update no matter what. Rejecting students for something like this would in all honesty, be a terrible system of filtering out applicants, and I know that the people at admissions know what they’re doing.

Seriously though, I know you guys are just trying to warn other students to not get desperate over checking their status, and to calm down. You’re totally doing it for their well being. Waiting for the letter patiently would’ve been a much healthier thing for me as well, honestly. Overall though, I’m relatively sure (from my understanding) that there is no danger in using the backdoor URL (https://camel2.usc.edu/AdmCertification/) to attempt to login.

For those of you who congratulated me, thanks. Getting in really means a lot to me, and it’s nice to know that this update was as good as I had hoped (and it’d better be, I already dropped $300 dollars on it).

And for those of you who are still waiting, don’t give up. I’m totally not up to par with the majority of average CC applicants to USC, and you have to realize that even the mean average scores and GPA’s of students getting into USC aren’t THAT spectacular (despite how great I personally think the school is). Keep chuggin’.
