I'm got wait listed for one of the colleges I really want to attend.
If I remain on wait list and get in, will I have to go to that school or do I have a choice of withdrawing?
If I choose to remain on wait list, what are my chances of getting accepted?(this is for Tufts University)
Can I submit my form to stay on wait list and then withdraw before the deadline of wait list form?

okay here’s what you need to do (i’m a little confused with your post, but i’ll try to help anyway):

enroll at your second choice college to reserve a spot. that’s important.
then write to Tufts and tell them that you still really want to attend, and if accepted, you will definitely attend (here’s where i’m confused, because you said Tufts is your top choice, but then you asked if you remained on the waitlist and got in, would you have to attend.)
but yes, it’s not binding; you can withdraw if you want.

Tufts doesn’t have statistical data on waitlist acceptances on the internet/on their website.

and yes, you can submit your form to stay on the waitlist and then withdraw if you want.

thanks.
i have 2 top schools and tufts is one of them.im still waiting on hearing for the other school.
on the waiting list form, theres a section that says “If you wish, use the space below to give the Committee on Undergraduate Admissions any new information you feel would be helpful.”
what kind of information are they looking for?

i.e. new awards, achievements, stuff like that.

Will it hurt not to write anything there?
Also, on the letter, it says “Tufts Waiting List is not ranked”. Is that mean the ealier you submit your waiting list form, the better chance you have of getting accepted?

Usually when a college says their waiting list isn’t ranked it means that if they are going to admit kids from the waiting list that they go back through every application on the waiting list and re-evaluate to select the candidates they are going to allow in.

Some colleges do rank their waiting list. Meaning, that before they decide to process the waiting list every student is pre-ranked. If they allow 20 new students admission from the waiting list, ranks 1-20 are accepted and there is no re-evaluation of candidates at that time.
