@cdlyw @weiba1014 I sent a reply at about 10:30 PM EST the night of receiving the email. Next morning I got an email confirming that they received my letter. Havenāt moved off the wait list.
it seems that case would automatically send status check letter on Thursday. It was pretty frustrated for me to receive the status check#5 so I decided to accept another offer
Case plays waitlist game too much, which drives away some very top students. My S was accepted by a couple more selective schools but not his first choice. After some research he wanted to attend Case if accepted off wait list. His stat is way above Caseās average.They waitlisted him probably because he didnāt show any interest. Case should be safety school for him if they dont play yield numbers game. However, he showed plenty interest after waitlisted so he received āpossible admissionā email. Now he is kind of pissed off because some students were accepted before 5/1 not him.

If you look on Caseās Common Data Set it does show āDemonstrates Interestā as āImportantā so it is no secret.
@bopper you know case very well. I still think case is better fit for my son and he has a good chance to play DIII varsity sport there too. They give him pretty good estimate merit award also. Do you have any idea how many students they will accept after 5/1? It looks like they accepted international students before 5/1? Do you thnik āpossible admissionā email is a pretty sure sign to be accepted?
@Sherylock he contacted the sport head coach and the addmission representative. Sent a recent award about his published poem to the rep also. He is really frustrated about the whole process. I believe lots of kid are the same.
@weiba1014 I am sure @bopper and others on this list know more about this then I do. But from reading about the waitlist at CWRU (and other schools) on cc last year (when we first started investigating CWRU) it seemed there was a good amount of activity right after the deposit due date- May 2 (this year). Since the deposit deadline was just yesterday, my guess is their admission staff is huddling in a conference room today and seeing how many spots they have open, and examining any specific qualities they might need- IE more nursing students, more males (for the dorms), who knows. I am sure every year is different, and then they would need to go through the list of students who have continued to express interest to fill those spots. It does seems that every year the number of students admitted off the waitlist has become smaller. I am pulling for your son, and I really hope that you get some good news soon. It seems to me that CWRU would begin actively filling any space by the end of this week or early next week.
@Wizard2 thanks for your information. I found waitlist thread last year and not much activities there. Hopefully he will have good news soon. The waitlist thing is really painful :((
Has anyone heard anything from Case regarding the waitlist since the deadline for deposits (5/2)?
Nothing yet. In years past some type of activity happened by now. Record number of students applied everywhere and it seems that other waitlist are not opening to make room here. Also with more applicants - that means fewer people are being admitted at other schools and just taking their regular decision here leaving less room for waitlist.
Our child, who originally had CASE as first choice, just couldnāt wait week-to-week to be removed from the waitlist. Finally last week, decided CASE wasnāt worth the wait. Fortunately, other choice of school is outstanding too. As parents, we think the other school is a better fit. Weāre glad it was the waitlist that persuaded child to go with the other school, and not us.

Son just got a call from Case saying he moved off the waitlist.

@Wizard2 ,thank you! You were right. They start to accept students off the waitlist by end of this week! I believe more kids are getting calls.

is that the same for everyone? maybe a technical glitch on their part?
