Wait lists, are they bad?

I just found out that I got put on the wait list for CSU Long Beach and I am neither happy nor sad. I have no idea if a wait list offers a good chance of getting into a school or if it is a nice way of saying that you basically have been rejected. Any thoughts on this?

its way better than being rejected basically they will let you know if u have been accepted once the SIR deadline passes. Schools accept more students than are actually going to SIR with them. Therefore once students decline there offer they will than choose students from the wait list

so u still have hope

Great, thank you for the help :)

I got waitlisted for fall 2013 admissions and ended up getting in. Mechanical Eng major.

and like sonic23 said, MUCH better than getting rejected. I would assume csulb is a backup for those who feel that they MUST go to a UC to be successful in life. l…o…l…

ugg, I am wait listed also. I got into Cal Poly Pomona but I would really like to go to CSULB.

As i mentioned in another thread - the real drag for my son about being waitlisted by LB in 13 was they wouldn’t tell you until after required commit date at othe CSUs. We were going to have to make non-refundable housing and tuition deposits while CSULB figured out if they had a seat for him. The on-campus housing at CSULB was also filling up - meaning, if he did get in, he’d have to scramble for housing.

Rather than wait - he committed elsewhere.

I got wait listed too :(
