I also want to say not to feel discouraged because many of my friends applied the same major and Early Action as me and haven’t heard back, I’m the first person I know to hear back for Undecided. I wish you all the best!
interesting new statement in the admissions page “But many of our campuses, with the exception of University Park, accept applications throughout the spring and summer and notify applicants of their admission on a rolling basis.”
Used to be UP accepting applications spring and summer for DUS and some majors. Sounds like UP will not consider students later on
Hi all, I am a senior in high school and I love all the information I’ve been able to access through this discussion. Finally I heard back from Penn State. It is in my top 2. I was nervous if I was going to be accepted to University Park or not considering I applied to the business school. I am so excited to say I was excepted to the University Park, Smeal College of Business with a 1210 SAT, 94.862 average, out of state. What a ride this has been!!! We Are…

How soon after your application was ‘complete’ did you hear back?
@piepie3 there is a wide variety. For some strong students it has been months and for others it’s been weeks or even days. It depends on your major and a lot of other factors it seems. Patience is a virtue!

Uh oh, did PSU not release updates? I was sure I’d see some news on this board this morning but for those still waiting, don’t despair. A while back I poured through the threads from the past few years and there was a pattern of a huge amount of decisions that came out the Wednesday/Thurs after Thanksgiving and then it settled down.
Hopefully that’s not what happened here but I bet Penn State will crank up again soon.

Daughter got acceptance yesterday Smeal college of business fall.
Have to share my experience with PSU admissions. I called on Monday and spoke to an awesome counselor. I explained we were getting nervous that so many others had heard already (those who applied later than my daughter in early October). She explained that her application hadn’t even been looked at. It is the luck of the draw as to when they actually open your file and assess it. I was concerned that she should switch from Smeal business to DUS to increase her chances of fall. She actually opened her file and told me that she should stay put and be patient. The next day we got her acceptance! She also said if you don’t get accepted you can reapply under an easier major.

Daughter accepted! Not sure if it was yesterday or overnight. Checked this morning and she’s in. Im happy because we are from MA and this is the closest school that she has been accepted at so far.
Smeal College of Business- Finance Fall 2020 University Park
Did you all know in order to Major in Finance at Smeal you need to maintain a GPA of 3.5 your first two years of college? The other business majors are a bit lower like 3.1-3.4. Im only sharing because I did not know this and thought it would be helpful.
It seems like the Liberal Arts department is super slow at releasing decisions or there are very few liberal arts applicants on this forum. I’m hoping it’s the former!
@Finalchildof3 At Penn State, she would be “Business PMAJ” which translates to Business Pre-major. No one is actually IN their major in Business until they have completed the ETM (entrance to major courses) - usually spring of sophomore year. Those ETM’s for Business are: Econ 102 (micro), English 15 (or 30), Math 110 (Calc), Stat 200 or SCM200 (Statistics), Mktg 301, Finance 301, Acctg 211, and Mgmt 301. If she intends to go Finance, she will need a cum gpa of 3.5 to get into that major as well as successful completion of the 8 ETM’s above.

My daughter applied to the Liberal Arts with a major in Psychology back in August. We haven’t heard anything yet either, although her stats were not as high as the ones that have been posting.
Anyone else trying to log in and get this message: “Sorry, we are unable to retrieve your application details. Logout and try again in a few minutes”? It’s been like this for 30 minutes and the picture on the screen changed from Old Main to the lion.
Doesn’t the picture change to the lion when you get your acceptance? For me the portal is working and showing Old Main and still says under review
Thanks for checking your portal to see if it is working. Not sure if the picture change means anything or not. Anticipation is killing us!
My son was accepted yesterday morning. I just checked his portal and it still had Old Main pic, but what changed was below it under Admission Decision…the box is much larger and starts off with “I am pleased to offer…”
Anyone have any experience with international admissions? I applied October 31st so technically EA but international students can’t choose EA. Is there a time where I should expect a decision? According to their site the final decision announcement day for international students is April 1st. Penn is one of my top schools and this wait is awful.
