3unitsIlove - Thank you for allowing me to post on your thread!

Thanks GoNavy!

Family has interview with B&G Officer tonight. He is coming over to the house and will meet with parents and applicant separately. I think that is the last piece of the application.

How did this approach end up working for your son?

glido: USNA appointment…check? Haven’t seen any updates. Heard about eye exams and such…thought for sure we’d hear about the appointment.

2unitsIlove Never mind I found your other post. Sorry to “hear” your son wasn’t appointed. I’m sure he’ll do fine wherever he decides to enroll.

Interview went well, but DS got a request for more medical docs. Appears MD forgot to check a few boxes. More waiting.

Aglages,

No worries he had a very clear understanding that this could happen. To have made it as far as he did was in-itself a major accomplishment.

With being awarded the NROTC scholarship it has the same end goal so he is a very happy kid. I guess there are many that go for both like he did and don’t get either. The awarded NROTC scholarship will only add strength to the academy application.

As noted in the other post he is very determined and has already reappplied which they were hoping he would do. The only draw back is he can’t particapate in his sport in the college he will attend because it will count as 1 year of comp which means if he could not compete his 1st year at the academy.

For now he will get the permission from the college athletic director of the college he is attending so he can continue to talk to the Academy coach (NCAA Rules).

As I’m sure you know all he will need to do is get “A’s” and have a strong standing in the NROTC unit.
