Waitlist and gap year

My daughter has been waitlisted from the Ivy League and then extended waitlisted… then out of nowhere she got an email
“Are you still interested in coming?”
She was so thrilled! But the problem is she was really hoping to take a gap year. So she replied to that email saying that she is very happy and grateful but is there a possibility of her taking a gap year? So she got a reply from the admission counselor saying that normally they don’t offer gap years, but they can talk about it. So she sent a long email with her plans of a gap year detailed and she finished the letter saying that while she will be very happy if they allow her to defer admission for a year she does not want to miss an opportunity to attend …
that was three weeks ago… no answer… she followed up with an other email just checking in email, no answer… I wonder if that means she missed her opportunity and if they thought she was too arrogant tho bring it up when she was accepted off the waitlist
