So I found out last night that I was put on the wait list for Elon. I was heart borken when I found out because Elon is my dream school. I applied EA and got deferred to RD and now I got put on the waitlist. Before I applied I visited over the summer and toured. Then in December Elon had an event in NYC and I went since I live on Long Island. I met with the admission counselor back then and asked a few questions and expressed my interest. Then over my February break I visited down south again and spent two days on campus. I sat in on an education class, met with my admission counselor for a long period of time asking questions, and took another tour of the campus. At this point my mom and I had thought for sure that I would have gotten in through regular decision. I also had all my up to date grades sent to the school. Now that I have been waitlisted I am concerned because I had my aha moment at Elon and could imagine myself at no other school. Does anyone have any ideas of how I can still show my extreme want to go to the school and also my chances of getting in through sitting on the waitlist.
Oh, I am so sorry, my D did the exact same at W& M but was denied, it was crushing. I would call them & let them know that you remain very interested. I would also email the admissions counselor and tell her as well, the one you met with. Ask her a question so she will respond, that way you can begin a little dialogue. Ask her if there is anything you should be doing to help your situation. Ask her if there is anyone you should call or meet with it any more info she needs. You know the answer is probably no, but at least it will get her to respond and remember you. Remind her when you met and thank her for her time in reading the email. Good luck!
My daughter was in the same position as you @mandymummy. She emailed her admissions counselor shortly after she found out & let him know that Elon was still her first choice. Meanwhile, she picked another school, sent in deposits & started preparing for going ot school somewhere else.
Within a week she got an email saying that she had been admitted & she is now a very happy freshman at Elon. Don’t give up- get in touch with your admissions counselor & let them know how you feel about the school. You school’s guidance office might also be able to help. Good luck & don’t give up hope yet.
Ok thank you so much I guess I will have to play the dreadful waiting game. My nerves and everything are shot right now Im so stressed out by this.
Has anyone heard anything about the status of the waitlist?
