In April, I was put on the waitlist for a Summer Residential Governor's School in my state. A few weeks after I received their decision, I was accepted into another year-long program that I could have put in my summer Governor's School application in order to make my chances stronger and more competitive. I wrote a letter today expressing my deep interests in this month-long program; the letter also contains a copy of my acceptance letter from the other program, a science research project (which I should have included to begin with), and some more leadership positions I won in June (Drama Club Treasurer and some others). In my waitlist letter, they said that they will be accepting alternates off the waitlist up until June 20.

Do you guys think that by writing a letter of interest and including much more information about my achievements, I might have a chance of being accepted? I won't be too disappointed if nothing happens, however, my other concern is about college. You see, I was nominated for this program by my school and my application was sent to the state level. Do you think I should include this on my college application even though I was not technically accepted...just waitlisted? I mean, it's really competitive to get in. Only 30 people were accepted out of the state for this particular program.

Thanks for all of your advice!
