@NewToThis13 I have actually heard of quite a few that have accepted spots at different schools since May 1. They just either aren’t on CC or aren’t sharing. I know one girl wasn’t announcing on social media out of respect for her friends that didn’t receive offers. That said I have no clue what the numbers are in the grand scheme of things. I agree that it would be interesting since I am hearing about lots of variance this year!

I would be interested to know what is the largest deposit you have had to pay, or know of. You would have to be willing to forfeit that after May 1st. In some cases it is a relative small amount ($100), but in others it can be a lot…correct?

@Notmath1 I think we had to deposit $850 for BU so forfeiture would hurt a little!

I think once students commit to a school, even if it wasn’t originally their first choice, they start forming a connection with it the moment they accept that offer. They start picturing themselves on campus, envisioning what their dorm room may look like, start meeting friends on social media, and start wearing the school shirt. So once those bonds start forming it can be difficult to then switch gears, de-commit, and switch to a new program. I think many students also just feel a huge weight lifted from their shoulders once a decision is made. So getting back Ito that state of anxiety and indecision if they come off a wait list is not necessarily a welcome thing. Although it hurts a little if you decide to switch and have to lose your deposit, I don’t think for most the deposit money is the main reason behind not switching when they come off a weight list. I think it’s usually for all those reasons I stated above.

@Notmath1 I’d say $1K for NYU.
