So just recently I was admitted to a NESCAC school, as a non-recruit, but I was recruited by other top schools. For some reason it just never happened. Anyways, I emailed the coach the day I was admitted about walking on, and today he called me congratulating me on getting admitted and about soccer and things like that. How do I continue from here? I mean it must be a good sign that he called to congratulate me, and I would definitely go to this school if I would be on the team.

Congrats on your admission to a NESCAC school, and taking the initiative to contact the coach. You will get a quality education. It is a good sign the coach called you, but I really wouldn’t try to read more into it than that. He is acknowledging you’ve been admitted, and you have the opportunity to walk-on by attending tryouts. The good news is that he knows who you are, and he had encouraged you to walk-on.

If this is something you really want to do, you’ll need to work out to stay in shape, and possibly work on skill drills to stay sharp. The coach should give you a timeline and a list of things that need to be done.

Good luck at tryouts!
