Hi guys, im having a problem finding out where i want to go, but i know what i want pretty specifically.

My highschool stats:
3.88 GPA 10-12th grade
SAT scores:
Critical Reading 710
Math 660
Writing 610

I haven't taken the SAT IIs yet, but i will be.

Ive had a steady job for the past 3.5 years, member of poetry club, and have done some charity work, such as invisible children (i dont know if this matters, considering i dont have the req comunity service hours.

I'm a citizen of southern California, and have no rank at school, being that they do not rank us.

My hopes:

As of now, my plan is to have my major in engineering, with a minor in business.

I want to goto a (relatively) fun school in california that is in close proximity to some sort of medium size city (not neccesarily a huge one, but something more then 50,000 people).

Im looking for a school that carries some pretige (such as a UC), but is not to hard where i wont have any fun. Thanks for your help guys.

Price range: lower then 22k a year

well first, to get into a top 3 UC, I would suggest bumping your SATs.

That being said, UCSD and UCLA are obvious choices here.

Along with USC, UCI, UCSB, UCD.

Can you, or anyone else, help me narrow this down, im trying to find a good 3 schools that match my prospects

Reach: UCLA
Match: UCI, UCSB or UCD (they are fairly equal in academics)
Safety: UCSC or another lower UC

but you should be applying to around 7-10 schools instead of just 3.

First off, id like to start out by saying thanks for all your help.

When i say i want to narrow it down to three, its not so much about only applying to 3, but narrowing it down to 3 colleges i will really like/can get into. and by like i dont mean strictly by an academic standpoint.

Also, where does UCSD fit in on my chances of getting in?

I would call UCSD a match. However, it depends on what activities you do both inside and outside of school, as well as your responses to essay questions. Assuming you do well in both of those, getting into UCSD shouldn't be a problem, especially since you live in California.

You might want to also consider Cal Poly at San Luis Obispo as a good safety. With you SATs and GPA, getting in there should be garuanteed.
