Warm up at the start of the day?

Hello All!
My daughter is scheduled for an audition on Saturday, Jan. 31. Does anyone have any words of advise/wisdom for her?

Also, were any of you (or your son/daughter) active in singing, dancing, and acting prior to his/her audition at UArts? If so, how much experience did he/she have?

My only advice would be just to relax and go with the flow. Also, have fun and let your personality shine through. Show that you are eager to learn and work hard. You could be the most talented person there, but you must also be easy to work with. And, if she gets called back (which I hope she does), be flexible. They might ask your daughter to do her monologues or songs again or differently, so just be aware of that and do you best!

As far as experience goes... I have taken voice since middle school and I have danced and taken acting classes off and on since then as well. I've been in several shows at my high school and at an area all boy school, as well few community and youth shows (nothing huge). I also did the summer program at uarts, but it's not necessary to be admitted. I don't think they care where you have worked or how much you have done. Instead, they want to see potential.

Good luck! Hope your daughter breaks a leg and has fun this weekend! Feel free to ask if you have any more questions!

Becca

Thanks Becca! I'll be sure to pass on the advise! Are you currently a student at UArts?

I'm not currently a student. I actually auditioned on December 6 got wait listed for the program this year. I'm just passing on the info that I have learned from their summer program and from my auditions so far!

Again, thank you! Keep us posted. I wish you the best with UArts. Where else have you auditioned/applied?
