Warning about Franklin and Marshall

Here's a warning to all those considering applying to Franklin and Marshall. I was accepted with zero financial aid, even though I expecting around 30K based on our forms. when I wrote them a letter telling them how much I would like to attend and how this was really not enough, they basically said, "tough luck for you."

So the warning here is do not apply to Franklin and Marshall if you are dependent on financial aid, or if you do, don't expect to get any money from them! This school, with costs significantly higher than similar private schools, is not committed to meeting 100% of financial need.

There is a new concept called "admit-deny", where they admit lower income applicants (which makes them look good), but offer such a poor fin. aid package that they could never afford to go there. This way the college can say that they offered admission to lower income applicants, but the applicant turned them down.

I wonder if this is what happend to you. I agree, it stinks big time.

I hadn't thought about that, you may be right.
