So during my freshman year I was suspended from my school for drug related charges. I went to Community College for a year and then was readmitted at my original school. Over the past 3 semesters, I have received stellar grades (10 A's in my last 11 classes taken), I have stayed out of trouble, I was accepted for a position as a Peer Advisor in my department. I have good letters of recommendation (one from head of my department/teacher, one from my academic advisor and one from an employer). My GMAT scores are very average (580) but am taking them again and hoping to have around a 630.

The thing is, I'm applying to the MPA and MBA program at the same school that I am receiving my undergraduate degree.

So, does anyone have any advice on how I should write an addendum for my suspension and how badly will this effect my chances of getting in.

Address it clearly and explain the situation before making two key points. 1. What did you learn from it? 2. Why is there ZERO chance of that or something like that happening again.

If appropriate, show how that experience has influenced your career and educational goals. Frequently, med school applicants talk about how losing a relative to illness motivates them to pursue a career in medicine. If your past motivated you to become a peer advisor, it is an important part of the narrative too.

For academic performance, I was kicked out of my first university, then I got bored and dropped out of my second university. After working a couple years and going back to school I graduated from the honors program and gave the commencement speech at my third university. Since then I earned an MBA and went on to become an Admissions Dean in graduate and professional schools. There is life after all this, just be candid about it and use it to shape who you become.

Good luck getting in to the program of your choice!

Would someone review my addendum and tell me whether I am doing it in a correct way?
