With financial aid (including a large scholarship) by child could go to Wash U for about 10-11k more a year than OOS University of Delaware. Worth it?
It depends on how your financials are but I’d say it’s definitely worth it. WashU is one of the best schools in the nation, and there are few reasons I wouldn’t take it.
If you can afford the difference without hardship/loans and Wash U is the student’s preference I’d go for it.
Every family is different. It depends on how $11K/yr affects the family.
If you’re talking about the parents delaying a new car purchase for 3 or 4 years, or maybe downgrading a 2-week European vacation to a 4-day trip 100 miles away, I say it’s very much worth it.
If you’re talking about raiding the retirement fund, taking out a 2nd mortgage, and 5-figure credit card debt, it is not worth it.

I agree with most others. Spend it if you are able.
If your going to Delaware for chemical engineering then I’d say Delaware
