Washington DC Private Schools

Yes, they take about 18 new kids and this year they have over a hundred applying. If you say that Choate has a admit rate of 10% for 9th grade, then obviously something is either wrong with your numbers or with Beacats, since he said 32%..

Admission rate and acceptance rate. Not the same thing.

2000 applicants. 200 seats (admitted). 640 accepted.

10% admitted. 32% accepted.

I have no idea if these are accurate numbers, but they're not inconsistent.

You guys really need to get a room if you're going to carry on this "my school is better than yours" p!ssing contest.

PETERSONS WRONG..THE acceptance rate according to choate website is 23%

yes, they do take 18, i didnt make that up,

and soccerprep, are you in the class of 08? you never answered me

No I'm not.

and crh when did I say taht you made up the number 18??

sorry, i thought when you said "yes, they do take 18..." you were like backing up my info, idk....are you in the upper school?

Yeah I am in upper school.

soccerprep lol what grade are u in??? im trying to figure out if i know you...my godsister is in 10th at NCS and I was at STA til '04 so I know like everyone..even if you are new I probably have heard of you

Do you know an NCS freshman with the initials R.E. and insanely long hair? ... It's a long shot, but I figured I'd ask anyway (that's my sister). :p

Yes! Really pretty blonde hair right...?

That'd be her. I'm impressed. :)

I'm a current student at STA and will gladly answer any questions you have in PM form, but I'm not getting into this silly debate here.

Oddly enough, this post came back into my life in a really weird way, and I wanted to give it some closure. Gobulldogs, you're right, I really don't know the HS and did base a lot of what I said on hearsay from 3 people. And I also don't know anything about the social life--I have had no experience at STA HS social events, so that's probably not for me to judge either. What I do know is that STA definitely helped me prepare for the rigor of Choate, and it's an excellent school.

soccerprep92 - I see you say that Episcopal is not a good school. We are looking at that one. Can you elaborate a little more?

i also know a ton about DC area schools, and people that go to pretty much all of them. No one here mentioned WIS (washington international school) and maybe thats because its so impossible to get in (i heard a rumor a few years back that for the class of 2010, they didnt accept anyone who wasnt a legacy. it was just a rumor, but it wasnt far from true) or Bishop Ireton, another Catholic school in the area. St. Stephens/St. Agnes (stagnes, as we say, lol), and Flint Hill (more VA area) were also not mentioned. Also, again, no one mentiones MADEIRA! which is strong boarding and day, northern VA, all girls, not religiously affiliated. besides mad, my favorite schools in the DC area are maret, holton arms, and georgetown day.

for the guy who asked about DC area boarding schools...yeah there arent many. madeira, of course, is all girls. woodberry forest is all boys boarding in like, the middle of nowhere virginia, but its a fantastic school if you're from that area-ish.

mddenise:

If you look at the dates of this post you will see it is from 02/07. soccerprep92 may not be around. I don't think you will find many who say it is not a good school.

That is good to hear. We really liked it. If there are any opinions about Episcopal or any current students on this board, I would love to hear their opinions.

inspiration08, I went to WIS. I didn't know it was that difficult to get in!
