After being accepted to both Washington&Lee and William&Mary, I'm still completely torn between the two schools. Does anyone have any insight into the social scene at either school? What goes on outside the classroom? Any other useful information regarding the schools would be appreciated as well!

Thanks in advance!

They are both great schools. W&L is a smaller school (1,750) that is overwhelmingly greek at 85%. W&M is still considered a ‘smaller’ school (5,900) and has an active greek system at 30%, however it can be easier to ‘find your tribe’ if greek life is not for you. Congratulations on two outstanding choices and best of luck!

What would be the cost and major? I’d think W&M should win hands down.

W&L is more conservative; W&M more liberal - both schools are about equally prestigous (W&M will have more name recognition since its a university, not a LAC).

Also, W&L is more of a party school, W&M is more quiet and nerdy comparatively

The reputation for W&L is for more old-fashioned bourbon-drinking southern, however, I’ve never been there.

W&M probably includes tons of students from northern Va., as well as more northern out of state students. The reputation of W&M is for more serious students, who don’t party much.

You might check out the male-female ratios - I think you will find a difference.
