Washington Post Rankings of Private Schools

Totally agree. @Sue22

If you read an explanation of the methodology it says:

“We do not include any magnet or charter high school that draws such a high concentration of top students that its average SAT or ACT score exceeds the highest average for any normal-enrollment school in the country”

And yet if you look at the list it’s clear there are many privates which exceed the average - and in fact many private schools with selective/highly selective admissions.

So yes, the list is nonsense and I’m left wondering about the connection between the Washington Post which published this garbage and the College Board which makes huge $$$ off of AP exams.

Then why, pray tell, do they have Exeter on there?

sigh these ignorant, uninformed lists that mislead parents and students alike.

^^^Exactly.

Not just Exeter, they also have Andover, St. Paul’s, Middlesex and a few others. Washington Post reporting is rapidly approaching the credibility of its editorial page.
