Thanks for posting the gift link. This is my kid2 exactly.

Can’t remember the number of late nights when my teen has called me from college just to chat or has come into my room to tell me about her day.

omg so true. My son comes in after 11 and talks for an hour. After being monosyllabic all day. It’s great.

When my daughter is home, I actually make a point to stay up until she turns in - because so many times, she’ll suddenly emerge from her room (or from having gone out) and plunk herself in the couch, and there’ll be an hour of “catching up” starting that I just don’t want to miss.

Don’t know the psychology behind it - I always thought it’s due to her needing to “wind down” at the end of the day and trying to unload whatever is “left”, and the conversation spirals from there.
