<p>Student loans will go the way of the dodo bird if they dont pass this bill and SOON. TENS OF MILLIONS OF STUDENTS WILL BE AFFECTED. ITS THAT SERIOUS.</p>

<p>Most student loans are through the federally backed programs and therefore are pretty safe. We have seen some Title IV lenders leaving the marketplace, but its been more centered around Cuomo's fiasco, not the mortgage and lending crisis. Then again, with over 3000 Title IV lenders, I think student loans are pretty safe.</p>
<p>I'm no politician, but I'd guess among the first things to be cut in crisis budget would be subsidized loans and federal grants.</p>
