We return to the world!

"...yet I still have 2 years of HS to really kick it in high gear." This is all the Academy looks at anyway, junior and senior year.

i'm pretty sure they look at all four years with an emphasis on junior year... I had to supply my overall GPA with an emphasis on junior classes and grades, and my activities/sports/leadership stuff/employment/volunteer/etc. (phew long list haha) for all four years, though junior and senior year activities etc. were emphasized along with junior grades. i pretty much overly slacked off my senior year gpa wise, though I did up my sports participation score, and they didn't even really look at the grades yet looked at my new sports teams (I applies late junior/mostly early senior year).

Okay. I usually don't even get involved in these application discussions for this reason. I don't know what I'm talking about. My application process was a lot different. I think becasue I applied a couple years after high school, they don't look as far back. I'm not sure.

When they look at your transcripts, (applicants still in High School) they are only seeing Freshman through Junior year. It is not only your GPA or class rank that indicate the type of student you are. They also take into consideration the level of classes you have taken. For example, a 4.00 student who is first in their class does not always raise an eyebrow. If you are in a school that does not offer honors or AP classes, you better have some high SAT or ACT scores to show you can handle the challenge. On the other hand, don't give up hope if you have a lower GPA. My son's GPA was only a 3.66. His transcripts helped document that he took the highest level courses AND he had good SAT and ACT scores. This point reinterates that scores or GPA alone do not give you the full picture. Your extra curricular commitments also can account for how much you are trying to balance on your plate.
