<p>dammit... ((sorry))
i just feel like i'm going to be
"confined" to the stage if i major
in musical theatre;
cuz i want to do theatre--
and then take the voice and learn dance.
... so should i just major in MT?
the theatre history doesn't interest me too much,
i just... want to flippin' sing and dance and act
and look pretty; gotta look pretty.
hahaha~ just kidding, but...
((sighs))
i've got a lot of thinking to do before the 4th!</p>
<p>broadway, i hope you get in;
that'd be so cool to work with you =D
hehe, let's hope i break every bone in my body
for this audition on the 4th... ((prays to thespis))</p>
<p>if you're worried about only being able to be on stage I know they do an acting for film class in senior year, and the showcase isn't only in NYC, but also in LA and they are trying to get one in Chicago too, so you do have options...</p>
<p>yeah it's a great program! hope you get in too.
oh, and when you audition there is this warm up where you pass a ball around in a circle - weird i know, but apparently it is REALLY important haha in the audition process, according to the freshman. so my advice is HANG ON TO THAT BALL!</p>
<p>I have to make this quick as we are headed to St.Louis/Webster in just over an hour.</p>
<p>I am so happy to hear how much you are both impressed with Webster. There is much to be excited about.</p>
<p>My Ss best friend who is also going to be their roomie next year is a Regional Acting Major. He takes singing and dance also...he chooses those as electives as he knows he can only benefit from them...he is also very smart to do so as he will be more marketable in the long run.</p>
<p>It is very acting based at Webster. I can tell you that one of their seniors from two years ago has already been on "Crossing Jordan" and in a few weeks will make his acting debut in "Night of the Living Dead 3D"...so it isn't Oscar contending, but it is a definite start. Look on the alumni page of the Webster Conservatory website and you can read about Josh DeRoaches.</p>
<p>Blake, why not go for MT? If they think you are better suited for Regional they will place you there. One of my Ss also had this debate with himself as he was sooooo into acting and was also accepted to DePaul. In the long run he chose MT as he realized it was the path he was meant to pursue. In MT you are required to take Muscianship and Theory which I may stand to be corrected but I don't believe that is in a Reggie's ciric.</p>
<p>Break a leg you two. If you have any questions feel free to ask....will be back tomorrow!!</p>
<p>ack! musicanship?! theory!?!
whyyyy??
see... region theatre is awesome,
cuz i can just take those dance/voice classes;
and everything's hunky-dory!
buuuut~
theatre history?! noooooooo!
probably the ONE thing i don't want,
but... can i just go up there
and ask "can i just sing so that you
know that i can sing as well as act?"</p>
<p>noooo~ well, i guess every good thing
has to have some kind of downfall.</p>
<p>i'm just... completely unsure.
so, i should just change to musical theatre,
and they'll switch me to regional, if... i need to be?</p>
<p>also, do MT kids take directing classes?
and as many acting classes as regional?
i do understand that the first two years as both
MT and RT students are pretty much the same,
and they "split" and take more classes into their
respective fields in the 3rd and 4th years...</p>
<p>((sighs)) i don't know what i'm going to do.
i need to talk to bruce. he's neato.</p>
<p>[blake.]</p>
<p>ps. i love all of you for your help.
btw, broadway, are you going to the senior day on monday?
I HOPE TO SEE SOME OF YOU THERE!!</p>
<p>Webster is rolling admissions (at least for academics) so does that mean we could hear at any time? Or will it be after all auditions are over? 5pants when did your sons find out? Thanks!</p>
<p>My D is a freshman there for MT. She received her official letter on April 1st I believe. However they came to her school (performing arts high school) here where we live to their senior showcase and accepted her at her audition, but her official letter came April 1st. I believe they send them out the same time as all the colleges.</p>
<p>Webster does wait until all auditions are completed before sending out offical invites. It was late in the season...late March/first part of April sounds right. Pray for a big envelope as they send out nice looking certificates of congratulations!! Please keep me posted....and as always feel free to email me with any other questions.</p>
<p>Thank you! I got a tiny envelope from Webster today and my heart stopped for a few seconds until I saw that it was about financial aid and stuff lol</p>
<p>i think we'll get letters of
acceptance or rejection
((although not for us broadwaybabe; haha.))
on march 27th.
... my audition is on the 4th,
and they sent a green sheet of paper
with a bunch of info,
and that date was at the bottom
and it said,
basically what i just told you now.</p>
<p>and 5pants;
now i'm going to be nervous
about getting the letter
because now i know that it's not
just some ordinary letter...
and that it's a big,
scary envelope that holds my
entire future inside of it...</p>
<p>lol, funny and sad note,
i just found out,
that my humorous monologue
from "i hate hamlet" is... overdone;
so now i've gotta find
and memorize some other funny monologue.</p>
<p>yay overdone pieces!!
btw, bad luck to any
and all of you auditioning,
((remember, bad luck is good luck
in theatre-land;))
so; let's hope i do terribly wonderful, k?</p>
<p>and i'll see you kids in august at webster!!</p>
<p>Well, this is what they did two years ago (big envelopes)...but I suppose one never knows as they might decide to do things differently one year. Never take anything for granted.</p>
<p>Blake....look at LaBute....such as "Fat Pig" or "The Shape of Things".</p>
<p>All for now....leave for St. Louis tomorrow morning. :)</p>
<p>Yes, my D got the big envelope with nice certificate too last year. Headed for St. Louis tomorrow too! See you there Sue! Can't wait to see your sons in Henry IV.</p>
<p>((sighs))
so auditions went...
that's it. they just went.
i don't want to say how i did,
but i will be terrified when april comes.
the freshmen we talked to scared me
more than gave me confidence,
but the MT head and the movement guy
relaxed me a lot, and... i dunno.
here's hopin!</p>
<p>webster said no.
i just got the letter.
probably shouldn't have opened it
until after the operetta tonite,
but whatever;
heh, i'm not as sad as i thought i'd be.
and i still plan on going there,
and then re-auditioning the next year.
or maybe even staying down here,
as much as i'd hate it,
and re-auditioning.</p>
<p>i'll be certain that i'm gonna get in next year, is all.
but, yeah; hope to see some of you other kids
on stage at webster...
you've just gotta give me another year.</p>
<p>Kudos to you!! Let me know if you decide to accept!! I can send you some emails to correspond with current students, unless you have doing so already.</p>
