Looks interesting. A lot of professional theater connections.
I know that you cannot do any performance- outside the school or within the school for the first year. You have to sign a form to that effect. Their philosophy is that you learn the foundational techniques and then perform. My d was told that freshman year they hit the ground running with a max load that doesn’t include performance and then they add performance the next year.
My d said the faculty was friendly but professional.
You can incorporate dance and voice but you have to figure out (with an advisor) how to make it work with your schedule. There are acting students who minor in dance and who take voice lessons. So it can be done.
My d asked lots of questions. I hope this helps. We have not been on campus so I can’t speak to the area they are located in.
Once you get past First Year/Freshman, auditions are for everything at once - at the same time you’re auditioning for student productions you’re also auditioning for the Rep (and possibly some other things which I instantly forgot when I was told this). Students DO get cast in Rep productions, which means they’re working with Equity actors, professional directors, and pro creative teams. And they seem to acquit themselves well - the production of The Wolves I saw the Rep do in the black box was a mix of BFA students and pros, and was seamless - I couldn’t tell who was a student and who was a pro without looking in the program (other than the Mom, of course).
Webster is a nice area. Public transportation in St Louis is amazingly shoddy overall, though.
The students seem to really support each other and build each other up.
(This info is coming to you from someone who isn’t a student or parent - I happen to volunteer usher for the Rep and thus talk to the MT, Acting, and tech students who usher as a work-study job.)
