Wecome Back, Byerly!

Byerly- A lot of us here miss you! I though maybe if we gave you your own thread we could lure you back. We'll even share our Cocoa Puffs with you!

Why does everyone like Byerly????

I can't explain why I like him because I really shouldn't but I do. Come back!

i like him to. he sounds intellectual =P

Cuz he's amusing in his obnoxiousness

he is a fun person to talk to

sort of like Smarterchild on aim

haha semp
are you calling Byerly a brainless bot from shudder Penn? :p

no of course not ;)

after all smarter child can provide me with weather, stock quotes and other information

byerly also provides moderately useful information though I have yet to see any data on cross admits choosing harvard

Right, Byerly=good info. Smarter child analogy is lol...so true.

You know you should prefer the generic brand, but you love the rush that sugar-high gives you. He sharpens your thinking!

Well, if you're the 'lucky charm,' please keep posting on our board. We need all the luck we can get.
=)

Byerly, consider this thread a safe haven for yourself!

but, wasnt there a byerly roast on the princeton board a few months ago

I think byrely is not welcomed at many boards due to his love for figures. We have to accept that no university can beat harvard in figures and facts. yes harvard students may not be very happy etc. but how much we hate it, it is also true that cross admit data, enrollment n yield data etc all are generally in favor of harvard. sad but true;)

Please, let's not start another Harvard comparison argument....I'm sure many Harvard students are happy. If I get accepted and decide to go there, I won't expect paradise and might end up liking it. =)

"cross admit data, enrollment n yield data etc all are generally in favor of harvard"

There is no data to back up cross admit data, Byerly is just fielding assumptions which may or may not be correct

Of course you won't expect paradise...because you know exactly where paradise is... ;)

Precisely, zante. =)

I responded elsewhere to your point on the Harvard cross admit numbers.

That Harvard has such a huge edge over other schools which are, themselves, ultra-selective, is not surprising - rather, it reflects a syndrome described as the "winner-take-all" effect, which is graphically illustrated in the rigidly heirarchial education market.

... and see also the well-known "Reveal Preference" study, demonstrating that schools who kill those ranking below them on the academic food chain are themselves killed by those ranking higher, when it comes to the battle for cross-admits.

Princeton is near the top, but not AT the top.

Yeaa damn why didn't it change the name to arinceton or whatever it was...
