Weight of Undergrad Prestige in MBA Admissions

Hello,

I am a second-year student at the University of Texas at Dallas (UTD) studying Computer Science and am looking to apply to tier one MBA programs (MIT, Wharton, HBS) after a minimum of 2 years of work experience after undergrad.

Since the prestige of the undergraduate institution often plays a role in admissions, I am considering transferring to the University of Texas at Austin (UT Austin) for the remainder of my undergrad degree. Would you recommend doing so in order to improve MBA admission chances? Thanks for your help.

No, you are listening to too many prestige hounds. Get a high GPA, high GMAT and above all a good post bachelor’s job. That is what will count. And if by chance you are not admitted, don’t blame UT-Dallas.

Thank you for your advice @TomSrOfBoston
