Weighted grades?

Ok, i took all honors classes and i got an A in all of them except 1 (my precalc teacher is terrible) So my weighted grade should be a 4.8-4.9/5 the only problem is that i took 2 required regulars classes also. (summer school)

even though i got A's in both, since they are only calculated on a 4.0 scale, it will lower my gpa by .2 points to 4.6-4.7/5.

I think its unfair that i get a lower gpa because i took 8 honors classes plus 2 regular classes vs someone who took the same 8 honors classes without the extra classes.

So is life just unfair or should i talk to my GC? i need help. thanks all.

From what I've heard, colleges don't use the high schools' weighted systems; they have their own way of calculating averages based on the courses and their difficulty, in order to be able to compare students from all different high schools. They also take into account what courses are available to a student, so as not to penalize someone for coming from a school with less options. So, if you took a greater quantity of courses, plus took the available honors classes, Harvard would take that into account regardless of how it affects your GPA.

well, i know that, but it still affects your rank. a lesser qualified student can be higher ranked than me.

Also, im only 34/360 but im taking the most aps at my school. does that cancel out at all? ive gotten all a's in my ap classes (i have a rising gpa)

I really think you'll be fine. Don't worry! Just continue to challenge yourself academically and hope for the best. Try to focus on the less-quantifiable aspects of your application.
