im a rising senior, high school class of 2008, and ive wanted to be in family medicine for as long as I can remember. Im livin in south carolina now, im an african-american male, and i plan on going to the college of charleston, and then hopefully to the medical univ. of south. carolina.
basically...im worried about a few things, and maybe you can help me out here. Do i HAVE to be premed?? i know i dont, but would it increase my chances of getting into med school? i want to get a BA in Biology with a minor in Spanish. actually, i havent decided between the BA or BS yet...
also....debt. the debt from undergrad and med school is gonna be huge. thats something im actually a little scared of....any advice on this?

Being premed means "Taking premed requirements and intending to apply to medical school." Majoring as a premed means your major revolves around those requirements and is actually a BAD idea barring some special circumstance (i.e. your school will not recommend you unless you were a Premedical major).

so...about the BA/BS part?

Can't imagine it matters.
