My grandma has been researching our family tree for what seems like the past million years and recently she sent me an interesting article about someone we are a direct descendant of. It turns out the college, before it was called Dartmouth, was named after my ancestor because they were the major donator of land, etc!
I'm hoping some form of ancestral karma is going to get me in... can't hurt I guess. I thought it was pretty cool though

I had the same thing going on with one school I applid to---descendant of the founder...kind of the ultimate legacy, right?! The only place to put it on the application was "are you related to any graduates of this school"...but since there is no living alum to keep happy to keep him/her donating, it was really just an interesting fact and I got deferred! (And I was a pretty strong candidate for them). You never know, though, you should def. mention it.

Not only is it a little late but since it's an ancestor from 250 years ago, there are probably a TON of people descended from him. In fact, it could be in the hundreds.

Interesting fact? Yes but not rare enough to get into Dartmouth.

Don't be so quick to write it off as just funny cuz I have an old camp friend from Harvard, Mass. which has a public school of about 100 kids per grade. Every year, Harvard (U) takes at least 1 kid from there as a shout-out to John Harvard, the founder. It isn't coincidence, it is an acknowledged thing.
And btw, there's already a chances thread by a 9!!!

10char = 10 characters, refers to the 10 character minimum to post on CC. "hahahaha" is 8 characters, so the poster used "10char" to have 14 characters in his post, enough to reply.
