Well after 4 and a half months of anticipation, my Swarthmore application saga has finally come to a close. For those who don't know, I was deferred early, and was just recently rejected from Haverford, waitlisted at Carleton, and have yet to hear from Bowdoin or Bates (I was accepted at Skidmore however).

But today, entirely unexpected, my Swarthmore decision came. I wasn't waitlisted, and surprisingly, I wasn't rejected. For some strange reason or another, Swarthmore decided to send me some huge ass envelope with a folder in it, talking some crazy talk about "Ride the Tide" and "Financial Aid". It took a while to sink in...these were not things that normally accompanied rejection/waitlist notifications. I got accepted, by some act of god. Let's just say, I'm pretty excited.

Haha, I eat my words momma, i eat them (but gladly, no doubt).

And ID, funny story regarding baseball. Today we played the number 14 team in the state who has a D1 pitcher (kid pitched 5 innings, throws gas). I started, threw 5 innings of 2-hit ball, 2 earned runs, we win 4-3. Great game. Anyways, I had left my phone at home, and my parents had been calling/texting me all day, trying to tell me I had a letter from Swat. We're supposed to have a team dinner afterwards, so when my mom walks up to me after the game to ask if I needed a ride home, I told her we were goin out and started to walk away, when she turns to me and goes "so do you know yet?", and I swear I thought someone had died or something, haha. She told me I had a fat package at home, and I ran off every school on my list before I hit Swarthmore and I kind've just...well, the whole team knew I'd gotten in, haha. Pretty great day on a whole :)

i'm so happy and excited for you! a fairytale couldn't have a better ending!
swarthmore is lucky to have a student that will appreciate it as much as you will i'm sure... and an honors admission to skidmore is an accomplishment in itself too. :)

I don't think I've stopped smiling in 4 hours, I'm so happy right now. Can't wait for Ride the Tide, hope to see a bunch of you down there. Thanks again all, everyone was too good to me over the past 4 months.

This stupid CC server has messed me up for hours and now I feel deprived not knowing hours ago that you got into Swat! Congratulations on two well-pitched games-one to that 14th ranked team, and one to Swat!

You sound like you really wanted it and I know you deserved it so for that I congradulate you! Maybe I'll see you at Ride the Tide if I make it out there.

NJPitcher, I followed your saga from its beginning. What great news for you!
My daughter was rejected at Swarthmore for EDII but we have gotten some great acceptances since. (In at UNC, Vanderbilt, Wake, waiting on Duke)
Admissions, as we have found out, is so random, so unpredictable, its such a crapshoot. My daughter has received great scholarship offers from two of her acceptances and is awaiting news on a third. The highs and lows of this process is astounding. Good luck!

 can you explain this term to us non-baseball playing types! As the only female in our household we get a lot of uh 'that' but I'm thinking you mean something else :D
