Wellelsey Vs. Case Western Vs. smith

Okay so I am really leaning toward wells only because I would only have to pay 1, 900 in loans which is awesome. But it is all girls and I have already been at an all girls high school for 4 years. I was also accepted into case and I live right down the street. But I was wondering as far as academics and reputation which has the best? I want to be pre med so which College has the best program?

Are Wellesley students known for being uptight and how does the environment at case compare?

Please would someone reply?

I’d say Wellesley has the best academic reputation of the three. I know girls who have transfered from case and Smith to Wellesley, though that could be due to other factors beyond just academics.

Do you want to stay just down the road from your family, likely with many of your high school friends or do you want to move to another state and try something new? There’s no wrong answer…it’s just something to think about in terms of academics, your social life, the career opportunities after graduation, and where you feel the most comfortable.

I’ll be a freshman next year, like you, and unfortunately I don’t know much about Smith or Case Western. But I don’t think it’s true that Wendies are uptight, at least that’s not what I’ve heard from alums or current students. I mean, sure you can find uptight ladies anywhere. Also, I don’t know how much this should affect your decision, or if you even want it to, but I am under the impression that Wellesley is the “best” school out of the three, though take that for what it’s worth.
Sorry that I can’t give you more meaningful or valuable information. However, I was in the same boat as you recently (torn between schools) and now that I’ve decided on Wellesley, I couldn’t be happier.
As far as the women’s-college thing… It makes me nervous, too. It doesn’t sound too bad to be 35 minutes away from the biggest concentration of bright, college-aged males in the country (i.e. Boston) and have the choice whether or not you want to be around them, though.
Again, sorry I don’t know any more than you do. But I do understand frustration from lack of feedback.
I hope you feel confident in a decision, soon.

I applied to Case as my “safety school” (this was 6 years ago). I visited and liked it a lot and it was a place that a moderate number of students from my high school in IL knew about/applied to/thought fairly highly of. I felt that Case’s reputation was about on par with UIUC, but a much better fit for me (much smaller, private, not rah-rah sports-y). I really never considered it once I was admitted to my other schools–it is a very good school but I don’t think it has the luster of Wellesley. I do not consider Wellesley women uptight. There are a LOT of threads on this forum about social life at Wellesley, student life in general, etc, that try to describe what it is like to be a student at Wellesley and who might like it. I would read back on the forum, or you can look through my post history, which is mostly Wellesley-related.
