Wellesley's Social Life

Wellesley is my dream school. Unfortunately, my parents aren't convinced that its right for me. They believe that this school lacks a social life due to the absence of male counterparts. May I beg for any of you to annihilate this perception?

Do Wellesley girls have social lives? Is it difficult to have one there? How do girls get around?

What are you looking for in a social life? If you want “traditional” all-American football and tailgating, you won’t find that at Wellesley. If you want all-night/day parties every night/day, probably best to look elsewhere. If your social life is only considered “social” when you’re in the presence of men, you might want to rethink your options.

Wellesley is a place where students make their own social life. In essence, if you want the frat party with everything that goes along with it, yes, you can get that every night. However, that party isn’t going to be downstairs or across campus. You will have to go to the party (and since Boston has hundreds of schools, you can find a party if you’re looking for it). Many students are also perfectly fine in small group get togethers as well…cooking, baking, exploring Boston, and yes, even having tea.

I think a great part about Wellesley is that you can Choose what kind of social life you want to have – party 24/7, party on the weekends and prioritize studies during the week, or study 24/7. You’ll find all types of students here. You do just have to understand that not as much will be thrust upon you just by virtue of being on campus. If you want to go off campus to find other social events/students, you’ll have to make some of your own efforts to do so.
