weslayan vs bowdoin alumni connection

Which school sets a business/econ major up for better career opportunities??

That’s a tough one. Bowdoin certainly has the stereotypical aura with a high number of sports teams per capita and many of them majoring in Economics. Wesleyan has that aspect to it, too; it’s just in addition to a lot of other things (like a Hollywood “mafia”, should you want connections in the entertainment business.) Neither school qualifies as an official “target” school for the big Wall Street firms; they’re too small. But, IIRC, they both cooperate in organizing an annual day of interviews in New York City, exclusively for top LACs. That wouldn’t be possible if the colleges involved didn’t have significant connections.

I was stuck choosing between Wesleyan and Bowdoin this past spring and was asking the same questions. Bowdoin has a much stronger alumni connection and the alums have a significantly higher level of power and contacts.

^ How do we measure alumni power? What counts as a contact?

According to Time Magazine, Wesleyan is nearly four times as influential as Bowdoin as measured by alumni with Wikipedia entries:
