if you read all this you are truly amazing - comments? criticisms?

thank you ever so much

SATs and grades are definitely good and in Wesleyan range... extracurriculars look impressive... We have a really really nice Jewish community here, so that's wonderful... I think you have a good shot :D What do you think your essay is going to be about?

agree with madjoy.

It's worth noting that being from the south will get you a little 'extra' attention from the admissions office. They're always looking to improve geographical representation from areas outside the northeast (and have done so actively in recent years).

thanks for the replies..madjoy, i was planning on writing my essay about a six week trip to israel that i went on this summer with young judaea (a national jewish youth organization) and its impact on me. but i'm starting to think that may not reveal enough about me? what did you/your classmates write yours on?

It might be cool to have an essay about one of your more unique activities... like about what the teen section of the newspaper does for your town and what you consequently do for it, or what your intention was in joining the political campaigns and whether that worked out or not. Or just some random anecdote from your life that seems poignant and important to you; I wrote about how my dad and I sometimes didn't get along because we had very different life philosophies, but this one time when we kind of bonded over good music. But your current essay sounds good too, and if you didn't change it, I think you'd still be fine :D
