i am thinking about majoring in either math or history...Wesleyan, Haverford or Grinnell????

Erm... Wesleyan? :D

Do you have any specific concerns?

I heard from someone who graduated from Wesleyan that he didn't like the math dept there. Any insight?

you should ask that person why he/she didn't like the math department.

personally, out of those schools, i would choose wesleyan because of its academic reputation and its location. i'm not sure about the math department, but according to the fiske guide, history is one of wesleyan's strongest programs. here's a quote about math: "Even the math department, which has been a source of criticism for years, has made significant changes to emphasize problem solving in small groups rather than interminable lectures dedicated to theory." also, you should consider that fact that haverford's student body is about half the size of wesleyan and a large number of haverford students play sports.

just an interesting fact...fiske (the guy who wrote the fiske college book) graduated from wesleyan
