Wesleyan / Vassar / Tufts ??? PLEASE ADVISE

I have been accepted to Vassar and Tufts and waitlisted at Wesleyan.

Please, PLEASE, anyone who has any advice about which school I should attend, any comparison info, any opinions at all would be appreciated!!
The academics, the campus life, the teachers and students body? What are they like?

Info about me:
Interested in Biology, Psychology and English.
Looking for intellectual community.
Into writing, theatre.
I would like to attend an excellent Grad school, like Yale.

Vassar is a wonderful school, and it is becoming the #1 choice for my 16 year old son who is at the college exploration stage. The words in your post that struck me most were "intellectual/writing/theatre" and you've just described Vassar's strengths.

Not that Tufts is anything to sniff at. My older son is a freshman there and you won't find a shortage of smart kids at Tufts either. He's a chem major and finds the biology courses rigorous but he's enjoying the challenge. He took the intro psych class and thought it was just "OK." He didn't take any of the required freshman English courses because his AP grade allowed him to skip them, but he's heard that they are also quite challenging and time consuming (TONS and TONS of reading and writing, but you might really like that!)

I would suggest you go to the admitted student weekends at both schools. Stop by the bio, psych and english departments and chat with the professors. Chat with the kids who are currently enrolled. How do they feel about the courses? Also, check out the extracurriculars for writing and theater. After you visit both campuses I'll bet you'll come away with a "best fit."

Congrats on having some GREAT options and have fun choosing! Good luck!

damn! dude, u got into all my dream schools. wat are ur stats?

congrats anyway

Poughkeepsie vs. Boston

I had to decide between Wesleyan and Tufts last year (I took this year off, I'll start at tufts next fall). It mostly came down to the size of the school (Wesleyan's mad small), access to anything outside of the school, because i dont want to be closed into the college bubble, and the overall personality of the student body, according to what i've seen/heard. I want to be in a place with a wide range of political opinions and activity, and I've heard that the Tufts community represents more schools of thought than Wesleyan does (or at least, the left doesn't smother the right as strongly). What else... I don't know, I've just heard that Tufts students are friendly, down to earth people, and since I'm into community service, I'll have more opportunities to stay in touch with the communities in Boston at Tufts.

Tufts vs. Vassar: I would say Tufts for location and for more accessible faculty.

Wesleyan may be a bit small and a bit extreme in its liberalness (Tufts is liberal too but not quite that liberal). Good luck! And congrats on getting into all three =)

The usual, boring advice: visit them and go with your gut... because they are all really good schools and you aren't going to go wrong with any of them.

We are all biased here... but I would choose Tufts of those. I'm a city girl; I'm fairly conservative (translation: part of my school's Federalist Society); the atmosphere at Tufts is a great fit for me. Vassar, if I recall, is more female than male, and by a good margin... or at least it was back in 2000 or so. Wesleyan would be too liberal for me, too small, and too far from a major city (i.e. would take more than a half hour to get there).
