I am a rising fourth year student at Penn, dual degree finance/ computer science at Wharton and Penn Engineering... I don't know if this site is exclusively meant for discussion of undergrad admissions or not, but I am beginning to consider a PhD in Math to position myself to be able to get a job as a quantitative analyst for a bank or a hedge fund. With how competitive Wall Street quant jobs are to get, though, it seems like killing myself for a PhD is only worth it if I can manage to get into a top program. Given the fact that I am not a pure math major undergrad, my GPA is about a 3.5 or so, and that my understanding is that Math PhD programs are traditionally extremely small, just wondering if anyone has any insight as to my chances of getting into a top doctoral program.. I don't have a 3.8+ GPA or anything ridiculous like that, but I feel like a 3.5 isn't bad considering the rigor of my curriculum, and I additionally feel like I could probably nail the quant section of the GRE if I put enough effort into it...

I think there are specific areas and threads for graduate or upcoming graduate students.

I would see if your school offers a M.S/MBA or a Ph.D/MBA
