Hey everyone, so I’m going trying to decide what college I should attend to get an MBA. I have narrowed it down to these two prestigious colleges and I was wondering which one would be best for someone looking to get into a hedge fund. Also I heard living in Philly for 2 years can be a more challenging lifestyle than columbia’s NYC location. If anyone has input on the lifestyle factors of each that would also be appreciated. Thanks!
Both are outstanding. Wharton has some clear edge.
^^^Agreed. I’d give the edge to Wharton but you can’t make a huge mistake with those two choices. Phila. is just fine to live in for 2 years.
Personally, I do not think someone serious about their career would be concerned about their lifestyle for two years.
D1’s good college friend and former apartment mate just started at Harvard this past fall to get her MBA. She hired a “consultant” to help with her application, at a high cost, to the top MBA schools including Columbia and Wharton. ( she got into Columbia but I do not know about Wharton) This is apparently the common practice now. She spent the last 5 years working in investment banking and some other finance field, which I forget at the moment. Her BF, also having 5 years experience, including 3 or 4 in investment banking and doing all of the above did not get into any of the top MBA programs. He graduated undergrad from a prestigious school.
You are facing tough competition for both schools. Be more concerned about the package you present than your lifestyle for two years.
